How to verify a card or asset without over-reading chain data or status labels.

Start with the printed identifier
Enter the Card ID exactly as printed, or scan the QR code. EditionKey normalizes Card IDs, but the physical print is still the first thing to compare.
If the record is not found, do not assume the item is false. It may be unpublished, mistyped, retired or awaiting release.
Read the verification summary
The verification page combines registry status, authentication status, sealing status, chain status and claim status. These fields explain different parts of the record.
A verified registry record does not automatically mean every chain or claim step is complete.
Use the checklist
Compare the Card ID, edition number, collection, media and certificate status. If any field does not match the physical item, treat the record as needing review.
- Check the URL belongs to editionkey.com.
- Match the Card ID and edition number.
- Match the approved media and source notes.
- Read pending or registry-only statuses as incomplete, not as failure.
